The garden was one of three local projects to secure funding last year through the state government's My Community Project scheme, receiving $198,172.
Bathurst Pubilc School is working closely with Skillset's Land Crew to develop the garden.
In addition, an augmented reality [AR] app will be designed by local software company Appiwork to allow students to learn about the natural world as they go.
"The idea behind the garden is to engage students in Indigenous culture and environmental sustainability," Skillset Land Crew operations manager Graham Stirling said.
"With the AR app, students will be able to learn about local flora and fauna, the importance of renewable energy and eco-friendly resource management."
Mr Stirling said the garden is expected to be complete by July and will include specific wetland, grassland, woodland and cultural heritage areas.
"The garden will double as a comfortable space for students to use for reflection and recreation," he said.
My Community Project grants were also awarded to Eglinton Public School [$111,550] to rejuvenate the space at the front of the school, as well as Cafe on Corporation [$20,000] to create sustainable employment and training opportunities.
The successful applicants were chosen from 26 entries throughout the Bathurst electorate.
State member for Bathurst Paul Toole has thanked all applicants and sponsors for taking the time to develop and promote their projects, as well as members of the community who voted.
"My Community Project captured the imagination of the Bathurst community with people putting a lot of work into their ideas, and it was great to see people get behind the projects that matter to them," Mr Toole said.
"I look forward to seeing the applicants and sponsors getting on with the job of rolling out these projects and the benefits they will provide to the local community."
The successful applicants were announced last September.
