The musician will play the Last Post at 6am this Saturday at Centennial Park to mark Anzac Day in a time of social distancing.
He is hoping residents in the vicinity will stand at the front of their homes with a candle or torch and take some time to reflect.
Mr McLeod is a member of the Friends of Centennial Park Committee.
"Given we have this beautiful space here that we have been working very hard to protect, with a community around it, this is an opportunity for the community to connect in a time of disconnection," he said.
Mr McLeod said he still might be able to talk his son, a trumpet player, into taking part as well.

Mr McLeod is playing as part of the Music for Mateship initiative, in which Australian musicians are encouraged to play the Last Post on Anzac Day morning (after letting neighbours know through a letterbox drop).
The Bathurst RSL Sub Branch, meanwhile, has encouraged Bathurstians, no matter where they are in the city, to stand at their mailboxes to commemorate Anzac Day.
The Bathurst RSL Sub Branch, with the help of local radio stations 2BS and 2MCE, will broadcast Anzac Day services at 6am and 10.30am.
