It is an indication the talented fullback may see more NRL minutes if the season resumes as is planned on May 28.
In the two rounds of NRL which were completed before the coronavirus forced the competition to be suspended, Kennedy started as fullback for the Sharks.
He got the nod given both Matt Moylan and Josh Dugan were sidelined due to injury.
But with that duo fit to play if the competition does recommence on May 28 and the Sharks' feeder club - the Newtown Jets - having had their Canterbury Cup season cancelled, there was doubt what the rest of 2020 would bring for Kennedy.
However, the Sharks have indicated they are keen to further develop the Bathurst talent.
"The 23-year-old may still find himself in a three-way battle for the Sharks' number one jumper, but there is no doubt that he will provide invaluable depth for the club in the event of an injury to one of their outside backs," an article on sharks.com.au said.
"He has already proven to be a more than handy fullback option in 2020 with two impressive outings in the Sharks' opening two rounds - recording one try-assist, one line break, 10 tackle breaks, while averaging 120 metres per game.
"It leaves coach John Morris with an almighty selection headache moving forward with Kennedy showing plenty of potential in his four career [NRL] games."
