He has been named a finalist in the Commercial Category of Lawyers Weekly Top 30 Under 30, an award which identifies the finest young lawyers across Australia.
Achieving 30 Under 30 status is a highly sort achievement, providing industry-wide recognition for professional competency while highlighting a passion for the law and dedication for personal advancement.
Mr Strickland, who works at Kenny Spring Solicitors in Bathurst, said he literally jumped for joy when he heard he had been named as a finalist.
"I danced around like an absolute idiot, my partner Jodie had no idea what was going on, and thought that I had finally gone insane after a month of isolation," he laughed.
Mr Strickland has been working as solicitor for four years, specialising in commercial, property and employment law.
He said what he likes most about this area is helping small businesses and startups to plan for the future and protect themselves against legal risk.
"It brings me a great deal of pleasure when I'm able to achieve a great result for a business client by approaching a problem in a creative way that is not easily found in the textbooks," he said.
Since graduating, he has worked in both Sydney and three regional law firms. He said growing up on the coast, he always wanted to move out west, and has loved his time here.
"I think that a big attraction for me was the amazing sense of community that you get in regional towns. Originally, I really wanted to land my first solicitor job in Broken Hill but my first job ended up being in Dubbo.
"In hindsight, I couldn't have asked for a better way to start my career and I am very grateful for the way that it has all unfolded so far and the mentors that I have had along the way. I've only been in Bathurst just over two years but already it feels like home."
The winner of the Top 30 Under 30 will be announced on May 29, usually its announced at a black tie event in Sydney,.
This year, due to COVID-19, the awards will be done a little differently, there will be a live talk-show style event streamed live.
Mr Strickland said Kenny Spring has organised a group at work to dial into the live stream to enjoy the night, and hopefully to celebrate.
Principal of Kenny Spring Solicitors, Angus Edwards said Aaron was well deserving of the honour.
"Anyone who knows Aaron knows how hard he works, and how much he genuinely cares about his clients.
"We are incredibly lucky to have him heading up our Property and Commercial Law team, and can't wait to see his growth and trajectory in the years to come."
