Keogh's Rusty McCool ($18) broke away from the field inside the final 100 metres to head an unlikely trifecta of himself, Cala Greca ($51, Jason Turnbull) and Baby Bee Mine ($51, Nathan Turnbull).
Race favourite Misdemeanour ($2, Amy Rees) was stuck three back on the pegs on the dash for home with no space on the outside to use and not enough pace to take the sprint lane.
But Rusty McCool had the space he needed to launch a winning attack down the outside of the track and see off his challengers by seven metres.
Rusty McCool's regular driver Emma Turnbull said the Village Jolt gelding has been living up to his potential over his current preparation.
"We thought had he drawn a bit decent then he would be very hard to beat. From the eight we knew we'd have to go back and hope for a bit of luck but we didn't expect him to go as well as he did," she said.
"It was a bit slow early for us so I was a bit concerned that we wouldn't be able to get ourselves into it. The last 800m was quick and he did a really great job to come out wide and win it.
"He won two starts ago and he's turned out to be a nice horse. In his last start he drew badly there as well, we raced for a lot of luck and he got to the line good. This field today wasn't as strong and he did a good job."
