The Bureau of Meteorology's official weather station at Bathurst Airport recorded a maximum temperature of 14.2 degrees Celsius at midday, but the mercury has fallen dramatically since then.,
By 4pm it was just 5.7 degrees but the apparent temperature was even colder at just 0.9 degrees.

There have been only very light showers of rain through the day but the bureau is still forecasting good falls of snow this evening.
Snow is expected above 800 metres, with the Oberon region most likely to see good falls.
We can also expect snow to the east and west of the city, with motorists warned to take extra care on the roads and to be aware of possible black ice.
A sheep graziers' alert has been issued with the bureau warning of possible stock losses.
"Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and westerly winds are expected during Monday and Tuesday," the bureau states on its website.
"Areas likely to be affected include the Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts and parts of the Northern Tablelands, Illawarra, Central West Slopes and Plains, Riverina and Lower Western forecast districts.
"There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions."
