I HAVE spent some time thinking about Bathurst Regional Council's decision to support a go-kart track on top of Mount Panorama, a decision that offends and is disrespectful on so many levels - the environment (loss of significant remnant habitat), Aboriginal heritage (further desecration of a significant cultural site), the annexation of public space and noise impacts.

Given there is a perfectly sensible alternative I can only wonder what might be the real reasons for such an abhorrent decision.

Thanks are due to the three councillors who voted against a go-kart track on top of Mount Panorama for their thoughtful and moral judgement.
Shame on those remaining councillors and the council bureaucrats who put forward such an egregious proposal for consideration.
