THE rain may have held off enough for the Bathurst Cycling Club to run their second post-shutdown race of the season but Michael Robinson still brought the thunder to the streets of Perthville and Georges Plains.

Robinson, who came close to victory just a week earlier, stepped up a gear to find the win on Saturday ahead of Scott Allen.
The pair worked strongly together throughout the entire race to hold off a massive combined chase bunch before Robinson kicked clear in the sprint for home.
Luke Tuckwell was the best of the chasing group as he narrowly found the final step of the podium ahead of last week's winner Will Hodges.
"When you're getting a race where everyone finishes within five minutes of each other that's some great handicapping, and it was a different sort of race to the one a week earlier," Robinson said.
"Scott and I had Gary Theiss with us as well at the start but Scott and I changed things up by going out harder much earlier. While it meant we'd struggle a little towards the end of the race it meant it would benefit us with the conditions that were out there with the tailwind on the way out.
"We've been riding together for a long time, Scott and I, and we know each other's strengths and how to play to them at different times. These handicaps are a great leveller when you can compete on even terms with the likes of Will Hodges who is charging from the back.
"It's so great to see a lot of new riders. The club realistically only makes up a small percentage of the people in town who are riding all the time so it's good seeing new faces coming along seeing what the club has to offer."
Early on Allen, Robinson and Theiss kept ahead of the 10 minute group of Dan Kirby, Peter Wilson, Bruce Hutton, Ebony Robinson, Cameron Crump and Kevin Bell.
Behind them the six minute group didn't take long to join forces with the eight minute group to form a large chasing pack.
Before the half way point had arrived Allen and Robinson had built up a solid lead but the large group behind them were putting in the rotations to try and bring them back.
They would come up just a matter of seconds shy.
Robinson kicked clear for the win in a time of 54 minutes and 21 seconds. Allen (54:31) held on for second as the backmarkers caught up with the large group to fight it out for third.
Tuckwell, who started off two and a half minutes, recorded the same time as Hodges (54:46) but got the nod on the line.
Hodges recorded the fastest time of the day (40:01) while Kirsten Howard (46:40) was the fastest woman.
