As a new season of Bathurst District Football play finally arrives this month it was no surprise to see many children taking the chance to get in some extra practice.
The two day clinic held over Monday and Tuesday gave players the chance to develop all facets of their game, assisted by Western's Callum Christie and new recruit Cameron DeJong.
DeJong said it's great to be able to give back to the community in a similar way to what he did back home in America.
"It's great getting soccer back going, both me playing and the kids getting out there as well. I did coaching back home and I'm trying to get back into that again and the kids were really great," he said.
"Obviously it's a little windy and a little cold - well, anything's cold for me out here - but the sun came out towards the late morning and it was a great day to be out playing football."
The clinic was open to all ages from under 5s through to under 14s, covering all skills levels.
"We ran them through a lot of technical skills, teaching them how to control the ball," DeJong said.
"We want to teach them a couple of skills moves and a few turns, because that's the fun part for kids - scoring the goals. Giving those little tips and tricks them seeing them use what they've leaned is great.
"It's nice to see that the kids were able to take the step over that they've learned and apply it in a game. As a coach that's all you can really ask for."
Clinics are also taking place on Wednesday and Thursday in Orange.
Following the clinics the attention for DeJong and the team turns towards the restart of their National Premier Leagues 4 campaign.
"I'm definitely keen for it," he said.
"It's also great that the kids are excited for their season as well."
Local juniors are currently two rounds into their local competition, which began in line with senior football on the weekend of July 4 and 5.
Western NSW FC resume their campaign this weekend with an away trip to face Camden. Following that, Western will enjoy seven games at home from their next 11 fixtures.
