The meeting was originally scheduled for April and because the changeover was deferred to a normal club meeting, wives, partners and visitors were not present.
"Our membership mostly consists of retirees, so we had to take as much care as possible," Probus Club of Bathurst Plains public officer Bill Deeley said.
"The COVID situation has made us reevaluate many of our club's activities, and we hope our normal meetings resume next year."
The club serves as a vital social and community outlet for Bathurst retirees but as a result of COVID, the club hasn't been able to meet for much of the year.
Last week's event saw 46 members attend, who endeavoured to space themselves out as per social distancing requirements.
The members met for half an hour, before breaking for lunch.
The changeover also saw the induction of incoming president Brian Burke, succeeding immediate past president Ian Mashman.
Members were also treated to an engaging presentation from a guest speaker.
"We regularly invite a guest speaker to enlighten us at these events," Mr Deeley said.
"It was a shorter meaning than normal, but it sure was nice to catch up with everyone again."
