At the start of term two, some schools were either not at full capacity or were doing online learning as the coronavirus was at its peak.
On Monday, Holy Family School welcomed students back for term three, operating at full capacity.
Principal Kevin Arrow said the school has come a long way in the past term, especially when it comes to healthy and safety.
"Schools have always been a safe place, but this COVID-19 has made things different," he said.
"We've had two challenges; the remote learning programs and the new look at health and safety in schools.
"I think kids have developed really good hygiene, especially when it comes to washing hands."
Mr Arrow said the school is encouraging personal hygiene more than ever, while parents are encouraged to drop their children off rather than coming onto school grounds.
"Before COVID, we had about 80 parents that would come through the front office and into the courtyard," he said.
"We've had to train them to drop them off, kiss and ride.
"Parents have responded very well."
