The PLANT X online program will be delivered through a series of scientist chats and webinar presentations, bringing the community, scientists and creative industries together to investigate the health of plant systems, including pests, diseases, and beneficial insects.
There is no cost to participants and resources are free if collected from Central West libraries through registration below.
Presenters will include bacteriologist Dr Toni Chapman, bee specialist Elizabeth Frost, forest pathologist Dr Angus Carnegie, plant virologist Shannon Mulholland and plant biosecurity entomology leader Dr Polychronis Rempoulakis.
Creative industry presentations and instructional videos will be based on plant biosecurity information and participants will be sent resources including a macro lens, supplied by DPI and Plant Health Australia.
Creative industry tutors will include Todd Fuller (digital illustration and drawing using iPads) and Angus Fisher (botanical illustration drawing methodologies).
Join online tutorials on digital animation and scientific illustrations suitable for all ages based on plants, fungi and insects.

Participants can order a Biosecurity Warrior Pack supplied by DPI and Plant Health Australia either online or collect from the Orange, Cowra or Forbes library (you will need to register through Eventbrite prior to collecting from the library; the pack will be free if collected this way; remember to take your Eventbrite ticket).

Webinar presentations will be moderated by plant pathologist/mycologist Dr Jordan Bailey and Phoebe Cowdery, convener of the Orange, Cowra, Cabonne Science Hub.

National Science Week will be held from this Saturday, August 15 to Sunday, August 23.
Organisers say it will feature more than 1000 events around the country.
