Buried in Treasures, run by Catholic Healthcare's Hoarding and Squalor team, will start in the Bathurst region from September 7.
Catholic Healthcare says Buried in Treasures is designed for people "who are overwhelmed by hoarding and possessions, and who find it difficult or distressing to discard items".
The program will also aim to help people who are not able to use the space in their home as they want due to excessive clutter.
Catholic Healthcare says the free program will consist of weekly two-hour online group workshops, run over 15 weeks, to enable consistent progress and to allow for social distancing and more flexibility for participants to attend their weekly sessions.
The program will be run by a facilitator and will follow direction from the Buried in Treasures self-help book.
Trish (not her real name), who completed the Buried in Treasures program earlier this year, said she was sleeping downstairs because of all the clutter in her bedroom.
"The course really helped me," she said.
As part of the course, Catholic Healthcare says the Buried in Treasures facilitator will support participants by providing optional one-on-one home-visits.
Buried in Treasures is government-funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).
To be eligible for CHSP, participants need to be aged over 50.
