While the rain is welcome news across the region, it has also played havoc on road surfaces in recent weeks, with potholes forming on a number of arterial roads.
Engineering services director Darren Sturgiss said council crews regularly inspect roads and schedule required maintenance, including pothole repairs.
"We have three full-time crews dedicated to patching and improvement works (including pothole patching) and the focus at the moment is on patching potholes brought on by the wet weather."
In addition to the repair work undertaken by council staff, Mr Sturgiss said council has had 17 potholes maintenance requests made over the last three months; four in June, eight in July and five so far in August.
He said the repair requests are in different locations "with no street or road receiving significantly more reports than others."
He said all potholes repair requests were fixed, and in addition to this council crews regularly inspect roads and schedule the required maintenance, which includes pothole repairs.
Council spends between $300,000 and $500,000 a year repairing potholes.
