I totally agree with the police that the Bathurst 1000 should be cancelled.
If "hundreds" of visitors could not be controlled in Oberon during the recent snow dump, how in the hell can we expect the police to control thousands of visitors, not only at the Mount, but across Bathurst?
The editorial in the Western Advocate on Saturday, August 22 (Why Not A Ban On All Visitors From The Hot Spot Suburbs?) acknowledged that the mayor and state member Paul Toole were advocating that the Bathurst Eisteddfod be restricted to participants from the 2795 postcode.

The Monday, August 24 front page article (Virus Threat Has Councillors Torn Over What To Do With Tourism) relayed concerns from councillors Morse and Christian about visitors to the area.
Cr North said: "We can't drop the ball on this, because look what happened in Victoria."
Yet for some reason the mayor considers it is okay for thousands of interstate race visitors, the majority from Victoria, to attend Bathurst.
Even if the race was run with zero spectators, it takes more than a few people to conduct the race.
Many more would attend Bathurst just to see if they can get a glimpse of their favourite drivers. Remember the majority of race fans are diehard addicts to the sport.
If the race goes ahead contrary to the police advice, you can bet your last dollar that if COVID - even one case - is notified, the police will be the ones to cop the flack.
Thank goodness the local most senior cop has expressed his common sense suggestion publicly.
Anyone who thinks COVID will be all over is in the same category as the idiots who passed comment at me for wearing a mask in public.
