The McPhillamy family, recognising the value and grandeur of this place, gifted it to the Bathurst community in 1938. A place to be enjoyed by all.

A significant proportion of this gifted land is now fenced off and awaiting the onslaught of machinery to wipe this living heritage from the face of the earth, to be replaced by a go-kart track with the considerable injection of public monies for the exclusive use of a small group of people at a time when the overall condition of McPhillamy Park is shabby and run down.
These actions call for a reset of priorities and mindset in Bathurst. A time to put the care and nurture of life ahead of exploitation and destruction. Celebration ahead of the crass commercialisation and commodification of living heritage.
