The highlight of the week was the final of the triples played on Saturday between Kerry Connons, Peter Naylor and Mick McDonald against John Crocker, Rhys Harvey and Craig Bush.

This was expected to be an even contes, and it was for the first seven ends, with scores level at six-all in a tight game.
McDonald then dominated over the next five ends, scoring 16 shots to set up a big lead.
Bush came back to win seven of the remaining nine ends, but only scoring one or two shots each end.
It was not enough to close the gap and the McDonald team were champions for consecutive years with a convincing 24-13 victory.
Tuesday Socials
Twenty five players took to the green in four games of triples.
Game one: Ron Hogan, Keith Pender and Gary Cameron took on Chris Woodyatt, Peter Ryan and Phil Burgess on Rink four.
Cameron had the best of the first 8 ends, winning all but one end and leading by nine.
Burgess got back in the game by winning the next 3 ends to get within three shots, but could not maintain their momentum. Cameron won the next four ends to set up their win and took the match 20-14.
Game two: It was a close match on Rink five between Tom Beck, Mick Burke and Tim Pickstone playing Terry Chifley, Des Sanders and Gordon Holland.
In a see-sawing start to the game, scores were level after seven ends, then Holland took the advantage by winning the next three ends.
Pickstone took back the lead after winning five ends, but Holland finished off the game strongly, took the final three ends to take a one shot victory, 18-17.
Game three: Jim Clark was the lead swinger with John Banning and Noel Whitney against Trevor Sharpham and Gordon Death.
Despite being down 7-13 after 11 ends, Whitney scored a 5 on the next end to get back in the match.
They maintained the pressure to win all but two of the remaining 9 ends to win comfortably 24-15.
Game four: It was another close match between Terry Clark, Rod Luck and Ron McGarry who played Peter Martin, John Bosson and Alan Clark.
Scores were even over 16 ends at 10-all. McGarry then picked up six shots over the next three ends to give themselves a buffer, but Clark came back to win the last two ends.
It was not quite enough and the win went to McGarry 16-14.
Saturday Socials
In addition to the triples final being played, there was also two games of triples and a game of pairs played in lovely spring conditions.
Game one: It was good to see Tony Urza back on the green in this pairs game, playing wih Noel Whitney against Alan Clark and Tim Pickstone.
Pickstone had the best of the first half of the game, but Whitney fought back to level scores at 12 all after 15 ends. Whitney won all but one of the remaining ends, including six on end 17 and finished the game with a comfortable 23-13 victory.
Game two: Despite winning the first two ends, Des Sanders, Phil Burgess and Ron McGarry were no match for Phillipe Legal, Ted Parker and Lotsa Koszta.
Koszta had a narrow one shot advantage after 6 ends, but then won 10 shots over the next four ends to set up a good lead.
McGarry scored five shots over two ends to keep in touch, but Koszta then won all but two of the last eight ends to score a big win 27-14.
Game three: Terry Clark, Terry James and Max Elms played Chris Woodyatt, John Bosson and Greg Quartly-Scott in the final match.
Quartly-Scott started the game strongly, win a 7-1 lead after four ends.
Elms got back to within one by winning the next three ends, but Quartly-Scott took control by winning five of the next six ends to set up a 13 shot lead.
In a see-sawing game, Elms then won all but two of the remaining ends, but could not close the gap and went down 16-23.
Sunday Social Bowls:
There were no Sunday Bowls due to the wet conditions.
Due to the postponement of the first round of the Major/Minor Pairs from last Sunday, round one will be played this Saturday and the Second Round on Sunday.
The nomination sheets are on the notice board for the mixed pairs and mixed fours, which are the next events on the calendar.
There is a Mixed Gala Day on Monday 5th October with single entries being accepted. The Nomination Sheet is also on the Notice Board. The official opening of the Flanagan Green will also take place at 9.30 on this day.
Just a reminder to all those members who have not yet paid their membership fees, they are due and payable by September 30.
The Annual General Meeting will be held at the Club at 11am on Sunday 25th October. Please come along and support your club.
Don't forget the club is open Friday from 2pm, with Happy Hour from 4-6 with $5 beers, wines and ciders. Hope to see you there.
BATHURST CITY
The final of the Major Minor was a great match as Jim Grives and Jack Smith took on the duo of Ian Shaw and Phil Gray.
In a very tight start Shaw and Gray scored a three on the ninth end to establish the first break on the scoreboard leading 9-6.
Grives and Smith refused to go away and won the next two ends and a 10-9 lead. From that point on it was end for end with Gray scoring a five and Smith a three and a four.
After 18 ends Grives and Smith held a 19-17 lead but Shaw and Gray took control winning the last three ends and a 23-19 victory. Congratulations to all four players.
The fours championship title is on the line with the first games beginning this week. In what should be an enthralling competition week 1 games are:
- Oxley/Noonan/Harvey/Finlay versus Hollebone/Reece/K.Fulton/Waddell
- Lindsay/Bromfield/Thorne/James versus Scofield/Hotham/Simpson/Birkens
- McDonagh/Rodenhuis/Williams/M.Simmons versus Burke/Shaw/Townsend/Grives
- Dobbie/Hummelshoj/Hayes/Homer versus Morrissey/Miller/Smith/Sewell
President Ross announced to members that he and Jen were unfortunately relocating, therefore there was a need for an election of a new President and Vice President. He outlined the importance of members in playing an important and active role in the continued development of our great club.
Nominations are now open for both positions, closing on Wednesday, October 14.
Wednesday Socials
Game one: In a great game where scores were never more than three the difference before Hamish McKay, Brian Burke and Norm Hayes won two consecutive ends to gain a four-shot lead on the 18th end. Spud Spurway (welcome back), Kevin Miller and Denis Oxley fought straight back to score a four to tie it all up. However, team Hayes held on to score a 20-18 victory.
Game two: Bob Foster, Phil Murray and Ray Noonan always held the upper hand against John Martin, John McDonagh and Jim Grives leading 14-3 after ten ends before securing a 19-12 win.
Game three: Barry McPherson, Joe Young and Garry Hotham took control of their match early leading 14-7 after nine ends. From that point Ian Shaw, Susie Simmons and Bob Lindsay won the next eleven ends to earn a decisive 21-15 victory.
Saturday Socials
Game one: After a tight start, Ron Hollebone, Anthony Morrissey and Bob Lindsay took control with a run of a five, four and three threes to lead 24-10 after seventeen ends. With the game seemingly over John McDonagh, Kevin Miller and Luke Dobbie won the last five ends but fell short with team Lindsay recording a 24-20 victory.
Game two: John Fulton and Alex Birkens led 9-8 at the half-way point before Brian Burke and Ross James won seven of the last ten ends to earn a 25-13 win.
Game three: Arthur Williams and Bryan Bromfield led Mick Simmons and Buddy Simpson 12-6 and 16-9 before Mick and Buddy turned on the power to take an 18-17 lead going into the last end. Williams and Bromfield held their nerve scoring a matching winning three and a 20-18 victory.
Game four: Paul Reece, Ken Fulton and John Archer led Hans Hummelshoj, Pat Duff and Alby Homer 7-3 after five ends before team Homer asserted their dominance controlling the latter half of the match and running out 24-16 victors.
Game five: Phil Murray, Bruce Rich and Norm Hayes always had control of their match despite a strong mid-game fight back from Bob Foster, Arch Ledger and Joe Young. Final scores were 22-17 to team Hayes and as an extra bonus this game won the Saturday jackpot. Well done gentlemen!
Game six: Barry McPherson and Mick Sewell got off to a flyer against Paul Rodenhuis and Ray Noonan leading 9-0 after five ends. From that point they never took their eyes off the prize running out comfortable 27-13 winners.
Game seven: In a game which could have gone either way at the half-way point, Susie Simmons and Garry Hotham finished the stronger over Ian Schofield and Denis Oxley winning 25-13.
Bathurst Real Estate Juniors
In an enthralling game of pairs which featured great leading from Nolan Stafford and some big 'crunch' shots from Kristian Geale, the combination of Flynn Armstrong and Kristian Geale defeated Nolan Stafford and Tarron Wright 7-0. A scoreline which did not reflect the closeness of each end.
The Bathurst Real Estate juniors will be on a break for the school holidays returning on Saturday, October 17.
