The 27-year-old Kiwi sealed his third championship win on Sunday by placing first and second in the two races staged at The Bend, results saw him finish the day with an unassailable 305-point lead over Jamie Whincup.
McLaughlin is just the fourth driver to have won at least three consecutive championships, joining Ian Geoghegan (1966-69), Mark Skaife (2000-2002) and Whincup (2011-14) in pulling off the rare feat.
With the pressure of defending his championship now off, the DJR Team Penske star will throw everything at trying to win his second Bathurst 1000 when the Supercars' season concludes at Mount Panorama next month.
"We've got the main one now, the big one, we can fully focus on and Bathurst we can have a massive crack at it," McLaughlin said.
"To hit the hill with all guns blazing is pretty amazing.
"I can't wait to get there, and I'm just going to get after it. Oh man I'm just going to hang it out at the mountain I think, no risk, let's have a crack.
"Bring it on, it's good to get a consecutive championship now and hopefully we can go consecutive at Bathurst."
McLaughlin won last year's Great Race alongside Alex Premat, but this year will share his Ford Mustang with Tim Slade.
This year's Bathurst 1000 event runs October 15-18.
