AS he moves within reach of training 100 winners in a season for the 12th consecutive season Steve Turnbull is hardly in need of redemption, but that's what he got on Wednesday night.

Joes Redemption picked up his third win of the season for the master The Lagoon trainer when saluting in the Moorhead Cranes Pace (1,730 metres) at the Bathurst Paceway.
After giving Joes Redemption ($2.80 favourite) a moment to balance when the green light was given, Turnbull - who was also in the gig - punched forward with him to relieve Bill Shannon of the lead.
Once in front there Joes Redemption stayed, going on to win by 3m over Bill Shannon ($21) in a 1:58.2 mile rate. That effort came after his fifth placing a week earlier when resuming from an almost five-month spell.
"I thought when he led he'd be a chance. Travis [Bullock] led up pretty easy and then he grabbed hold, so I thought I'd have a quick go and he let me lead. He raced pretty comfortably after that," Turnbull said.
"Once I saw him grab hold I thought I didn't have to use him too much to get the front, although that first quarter was respectable.
"His first run back was nice, he got caught in the death seat but he ran a nice race and he's improved on that tonight."
In steering Joes Redemption to victory Turnbull took his tally of winners as a trainer this season to 91 and before the Bathurst meeting was out he'd added another.
Turnbull quinellaed the second New South Wales Breeders Challenge 2YO Colts and Gelding Heat (1,730m) that was staged at the meeting.
Mitch Turnbull guided Saint Julien ($6) to a comfortable 7.9m win over interestingly named stablemate Warrawee Drinking.
"He's by Warrawee Needy and the girls that are in the syndicate, they all get together and have a drink," Turnbull explained.
"The started the syndicate up and the first one they had was Pop The Bubbles and now they've got this one Warrawee Drinking, so it's a bit of fun."
With the current season having been extended to December 31, Turnbull is expected to extend his remarkable run of being a century trainer.
He has hit triple figures every season since 2008-09, his best result in that streak being 217 winners for his 2013-14 campaign.
