Played in warm conditions at Proctor Park 1, it was Collegians that found the back of the net first through Isaac Schembri, before goals from Brayden North, Mitchell Curran and Tyson Newton scored to give the minor premiers the ascendency.
But Collegians wouldn't go away that easily, with ex-Abercrombie player Jack Press pulling a goal back to make it a nervous finish for his former club.

Navy captain Angus Daymond said his side delt well with the pressure that Collegians threw at them in the closing stages of the match.
"I think we coped pretty well, they were down so they were always going to crack the pressure on at the end," he said.
"It was a bit frantic, but we coped well and did our job well enough to get the win."
Daymond said his side "excelled" when it came to spreading the ball wide and using the whole field.
"We sort of excel there then going up the middle and that's where we beat them, because they play up the middle," he said.
"If we play pretty strong over the park if we play to our game plan, so if we play wide, it works to our advantage."
One think that still stings for the Navy boys is last year's grand final loss to LIthgow Workmen's FC, which they went down on penalties after the scores were locked at 2-all at the end of extra-time.
"It's a bit of sore point. That's what happens, you can't win them all," Daymond said.
"Hopefully we can get out there, win it and change that record."
"Our team changed a lot, so I think we've only got about six boys left from the grand final last year. We had to regroup and start again."
In the minor semi-final, Abercrombie Gold overcame CSU 2-1, with goals from Stefan Scott and Alexis Le Masson cancelling out the sole goal from Stags' Brendon Mandizvidza.
