A 22-YEAR-OLD man has had his number plates confiscated after being charged with a large burnout that left tyre rubber strewn over 100 metres on a Bathurst residential street.

Officers attached to Bathurst Highway Patrol discovered the burnout marks about 7.30am on Sunday.
Police identified the vehicle they believed responsible for the burnout and officers spoke to the 22-year-old male owner of the vehicle about the alleged offence.

"Police ascertained that the offence had occurred at approximately 3am that morning and identified the owner as the driver of the vehicle at the time of the offence," a police spokesperson said.
The Bathurst man was subsequently issued a court notice for the following offences: Prolonged loss of traction (first offence); driving in a manner dangerous (first offence); and driving a motor vehicle while suspended (first offence).
Police confiscated the vehicle's registration plates.
