The Melbourne Cup usually attracts over 100,000 fans to Flemington on the first Tuesday in November, but due to the recent mass outbreak of coronavirus cases in Victoria, no fans will be able to enjoy a day at the races.
There won't be a lack of places for Bathurstians who are hoping to watching the race in town, with plenty of local establishments preparing to host Melbourne Cup events.

Panthers Bathurst is one of the many venues hosting Melbourne Cup functions, featuring a three-course lunch for attendees, which includes a champagne on arrival.
General manager John Fearnley said the club can host up to 300 people on the day.
"We're pretty lucky because we've got a lot of space in the club," he said.
"On a normal day, it's one of our biggest years through November.
"Obviously with different restrictions, it'll be a bit smaller this year. Hopefully we can still get a good crowd in."
Betting facilities will be available too, for punters hoping to win on race day.
Panthers, isn't the only club or pub in town hosting Melbourne Cup functions, with other venues including (but not limited to):
- KINGS HOTEL: Open from 9am. Seafood platters, prizes and drinks specials all day. Every race will be presented on the big screen. Bookings are preferred and can be done by calling 6331 1852.
- BATHURST RSL: TAB will be open 8am. There'll be live entertainment by Gedupndans from midday, bistro specials and every race will be presented on the big screen. There'll also be sweepstakes and giveaways.
- GEORGE HOTEL: A special Melbourne Cup lunch from midday for $70. Bookings are essential, which can be made on 6331 3399.
- DUDLEY HOTEL: TAB will be open from 8.30am. Full menu will be available for lunch and dinner, as well as some seafood specials. Sweepstakes are also available.
- JACK DUGGANS IRISH PUB: The Melbourne Cup will be live on the big screen. A calcutta sweepstakes was held on Monday evening.
