JEREMY McGrath was most grateful that his bitch Kinkade didn't have to run any further than 307 metres in Monday afternoon's Bathurst Trial Tuesdays And Thursdays Maiden at Kennerson Park.

Kinkade ($2.70) has never been one to produce sustained bursts of speed for McGrath but her excellent start proved strong enough for her to finally break her maiden status on her 10th career start.
She got away beautifully from box four to quickly build up an early two length lead over a three-dog wall in pursuit.
The group of Up There Charlie, Betty Pepper and Wild Stallion fought hard for second place before the former gained the ascendancy along the rail.
Up There Charlie started to take it to Kinkade and soon found himself right on the leader's tail as they entered the turn.
But that's as close as he'd get.
Up There Charlie drifted well wide when he couldn't find a clear passage around Kinkade and the leader was gifted a five length lead entering the straight.
Though given her historic lack of stamina it was still far from a done deal for McGrath's contender.
However, on this occasion she had plenty left in the legs and she was able to hold out Betty Pepper ($15, Frank Jeffcoat) and Up There Charlie ($13, Tim McCaffrey).
Favourite Autumn Doll ($2.60, Richard Board) was awful out of the boxes but showed a lot of fight over the short distance to claw her way back to fourth.
While happy to take the win, McGrath's hopeful his bitch can find a little bit of extra stamina as she moves on through her races.
"This was an easier race for her. She's very quick out of the boxes but is struggling to even run out a 300m at the moment," he said.
"She burns it all up early and then usually has nothing left to give. She's good for about 100m but that's it.
"If we can find one shorter than this then we'll take it. There's 280m at Wenty and 270m at The Gardens so that's probably where we'll be going."
For Kinkade it's all about building from Monday's solid 7.91 opening sectional and stretching that for a full race.
