IT was not too long ago that the drought placed a strain on Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing's track staff to have Tyers Park in good condition, but ahead of this Saturday's meeting it is 'superb'.

Club general manager Michelle Tarpenning was delighted to see 88 nominations for the six-race meeting and feels the Tyers Park track plays a key role in attracting that sort of interest.
"It's always great to see the list of names of people coming up and seeing them come back time and time again when they realise how good the track is. It brings people back - it's a real drawcard for a lot of trainers," she said.
"Our local trainers feel very lucky and we get people coming over the mountains time and time again because they love what we've got to offer.
"There's no doubt in summer we struggled ... but we are in a nice position now and grateful for the coverage we have, it's not too much of a distant memory to remember the drought for us.
"The cover is incredible, we've got such a thick cover on the track the boys are actually having to mow it twice.
"We are always really proud of the track we present, but at this time of year, the last couple of races, it's just been superb."
Tarpenning was also pleased to see a runners from the stables of Bathurst trainers Gayna Williams, Roy McCabe, Dean Mirfin, Ashlee Grives, Wanda Ings and Paul Theobald amongst the nominations.
For the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1,200 metres) which is set to be the feature of Saturday's meeting, McCabe has nominated seven-year-old gelding Catcha Crown.
He has twice won on his home track, has been runner-up three times and third on two occasions so McCabe will be hoping Catcha Crown can add to that.
Williams has nominated Zerchois, Griffin's Gaze and Lawnmeet for that race while Theobald (Red Marauder) and Ings (White Collar) have interest as well.
Acceptances must be declared by 9am Thursday.
