I recently came across a pile of illegally dumped rubbish on my way into town.
After a quick inspection, I noted that not all of it was rubbish.
Some items looked quite okay (not broken or damaged) and if some thought had gone into deciding what to do with them, they could've been taken to a charity to be recycled.
However, it appears that these items had to be disposed of in a hurry (possible breakdown of a relationship).
It's not the first time I've come across dumped items of a personal nature (clothing, books, kids' toys, etc) on Ophir Road.
I'm assuming this dumping occurred under the cover of darkness.

I'm unsure what the solution is to this ongoing problem, so here are my suggestions:
1. Council should strongly consider looking at reducing tip fees.
2. Increase awareness campaigns across social media advising that illegal dumping will not be tolerated, especially in rural areas.
3. Erect signs in known hot spots along with hidden surveillance cameras mentioning a hefty fine of $1000 or six months' jail will apply if caught. It might deter those who think it's okay to pursue this illegal act.
We must get tougher on those who choose to do the wrong thing - the sooner the better.
