When Veritas House recently appealed to the public to bring some cheer to young people who may otherwise not receive anything for Christmas, the Bathurst RSL Club decided to provide some much needed assistance.
The Club has donated $5,000 so that Veritas House can provide a range of support including 30 boxes of groceries valued at $100 for each young person being supported through their outreach service who has transitioned from homelessness and into independent living in the community.

The funding will also provide 35 children with gifts from the Veritas House Gift Tree, funds for a Christmas lunch for young people spending Christmas in the youth refuge and vouchers to enable them to enjoy some activities in town during the holiday period.
"This year has been hard for everybody. When we realised that Veritas House is currently supporting more young people than ever before, we wanted to provide some assistance to help them have a Christmas that they may not otherwise be able to experience." Peter Sargent, General Manager of the Bathurst RSL Club said.
"We now have in excess of 16,000 members and we are really grateful for the wonderful support we receive from the Bathurst community," Ian MIller president of the RSL Club said.
"That support puts us in the position to help Veritas House. This great organisation provides our young people with vital services when they are at their most vulnerable."
