WHEN Meg Dawson ran through the finish gate on Sunday morning to claim line honours in the Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Club's women's only round, it was a special moment.

Special in that she had finished her maiden triathlon and special in that she did it alongside her mother Di.
The Dawsons were two of the 10 women who opted to complete the 200 metres swim, 16 kilometre cycle and 2.5 kilometre run event as a team.
While Meg admitted she's not a strong cyclist and her mother Di chipped in with "I can't swim to save myself", the Dawson combination still worked well together as they utilised their strengths nicely.
Meg tackled the swim and the run while Di, who has covered plenty of kilometres on a bike, completed the cycle leg.
"It was good I got a bit of a break between the swim and run," Meg said.
"I was a bit nervous, the anticipation and excitement of it I suppose, just the anticipation of something a bit different because normally I am just out on the road riding," Di added.
"It was definitely a bit windy and as it was a bit shorter than what I'm used to, you've just got to go."
Go both of them did and it wasn't just on Sunday, they had prepared together as well.
A conversation at the gym with Kristy Powyer, an experienced triathlete and Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Club member, enticed the Dawsons into giving the women's only even a go.
"Kristy at the gym talked us into it," Meg said.
"Yeah I just said to Meg 'If you want to have a go, I'll have a go'. We've been doing a bit of training together."
Powyer, who crossed the finish line not long after the Dawsons, was quick to have another conversation with them, encouraging them to take part in more triathlons.
The mother and daughter are keen to do so - the Bathurst Wallabies are staging their Christmas round this coming Sunday - but Di stressed she will just be sticking with the cycle leg for now rather than tackling it as an individual.
"It was fun so I think we'll do another one, another team one, you won't get me near the water," she laughed.
