Silly Solly's, which began in Rockhampton and now has stores throughout Queensland, has chosen Bathurst as one of the first locations for its expansion into NSW.
It will open in the Bathurst Chase shopping centre in William Street.
"We will employ lots of locals," Silly Solly's founder and adviser Solly Stanton said.
IN OTHER BUSINESS NEWS:
He said the chain's first four stores outside Queensland will be in Bathurst, Lismore in northern NSW, Prospect in western Sydney and Shepparton in Victoria, though many more will follow.
"We have had lots of people from the Central West contact us," Mr Stanton said.
"They have seen the stores in Queensland and have asked us to come there [the Central West]. There is nothing quite like it.
"It put it on our radar and we are quite happy to go there."
He said the Bathurst store will open by early March.
Mr Stanton said Silly Solly's sells 10,000 products, none of which are over $5.
"Silly Solly's are obsessed with our customers and adopt a customer-first approach, wanting them to save money and live better, while also providing an enjoyable shopping experience," he said.
"We are also making shopping great again."
He said there would be thousands of people across Australia at any given time who "are comparing prices online on their mobile phones with competitors' prices".
"They don't need to waste time and do that at Silly Solly's," he said.
"We are not complaining about online shopping. We have addressed the elephant in the room."
Mr Stanton told The Australian Financial Review in September that sales were up in the discount sector because money was tight due to the changes caused to the economy by coronavirus.
He told the AFR there were plans to lift the number of Silly Solly's stores from 22 to 100 over the next few years.
Mr Stanton told the Western Advocate that those who are interested in applying for the new jobs that will be created by the Bathurst store can contact him at solly@sillysollys.com.au
