With five wins from six career starts, drawing box one and being backed as the short-priced favourite at $1.55, there was no doubt it was Red Hot Mouse's Bathurst RSL Soldiers Saddle (520 metres) final to lose on Monday evening.

But the one-year-old black bitch wouldn't have been aware of the pressure she was under, so she did what she does best and chased the bunny quicker then the rest of the field, storming home to claim victory in the $12,300 feature at Kennerson Park in a quick time of 29.67 seconds.
Londonderry trainer Rodney Metselaar said it was a great run, as Red Hot Mouse lead from start to finish.

"From the behind the boxes, it looked like she came out under the lids," he said.
"To the back, she went 18.96, which is super and then to run that overall time, you've got to be a pretty good to run that sort of time."
The result was never in doubt, with Red Hot Mouse jumping from the boxes well and taking the early lead. She never once looked back, eventually finishing six lengths ahead of the Dennis Barnes-trained Nangar Opal ($3.30) in second.
One of the only battles of the race was with third, with Ashley Marshall's United Stand ($81) pulling ahead of Errol Hughes' Hammer Foot ($11) in the home straight to claim third.
It isn't the first time the western Sydney trainer has won the Soldiers Saddle final, having won it five years ago with Tap Out Axe, who hadn't manage to win either a heat or semi-final.
"I won it five years ago with Tap Out Axe. That was my own breed and I had good luck with the box draws then too," he said.
"This year I've had a lot of luck with the boxes too and I've had the right boxes too. Both were pretty handy, with Tap Out Axe going on to town [Wentworth Park] to win nine to 10 races."
After the feature final win, Metselaar is expecting to enjoy a drink with the owner Peter Vanderburg.
"The owner is great. He just purchased the dog recently and I spoke to him during the week and he was asking about her chances," he said.
"She had a pretty realistic chance and the trainer will be really over the moon. I'm sure we'll have a beer during the week to celebrate."
