Kathy Rowan will be at the library as part of Speech Pathology Australia's inaugural Speechie Library Talk program being held at more than 60 centres throughout Australia.
Her talk, for parents and carers of preschool-aged children and school starters, will be held on Wednesday, January 6 at 11am.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It will include a special storytime featuring one of the winning books from Speech Pathology Australia's 2020 Book of the Year awards, plus information on how to boost a child's language and literacy development at home, and what support is available locally.
Bathurst Library manager Patou Clerc said Speechie Library Talks are a joint initiative between Speech Pathology Australia and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
"These talks recognise the important role libraries play in supporting literacy and language development," Ms Clerc said.
"We have hundreds of free books and online resources available at the library to support these vital skills, including many books recommended by Speech Pathology Australia.
"Our regular children's Storytime and Baby Rhyme Time programs are also designed to help children develop their early literacy skills.
"All of these programs are free to attend and held during school terms throughout the year."
Ms Rowan's talk will be free and open to all local parents and carers.
However, numbers are limited and bookings are essential, according to the library.
