The new bridge will replace the former one-lane Howards Bridge, which was washed away during a January 2019 storm.
Bathurst Regional Council's acting director of engineering services Russell Deans said the bridge will be completed by late February provided there are no further delays to the current construction program.
"The steel piles have been installed and construction of the wingwalls and abutments are due to commence shortly, but the bridge approaches will also need to be constructed prior to the opening of the new bridge," Mr Deans said.
"The new bridge will allow for two-way travel across the Winburndale Rivulet as opposed to the one lane Howards Bridge."
Mr Deans said the new bridge has been specifically designed to withstand future flooding events.
"The new bridge deck is situated approximately 2.5m above the old Howards Bridge deck level and is of a structure which prevents deck uplift in the event of flooding," he said.
A $789,848 tender was awarded to Bridge and Marine Engineering Pty Ltd to construct the bridge.
