Angus Parsons, Ethan Muller and Cooper Brien are all representing Western Zone in three-day carnivals at Albury this week and while the trio are part of talented squads, there was no joy on day one.
In the under 16s Bradman Cup, all-rounder Parsons and his Western team-mates suffered a 31-run loss to ACT Southern Districts.
But while Western fell short in its pursuit of 193 for victory - all out for 161 in the 48th over - Parsons did provide some moments of celebration.
He pulled off a direct hit run out and played a role in another after Western was sent into the field first.
With the ball he had figures of 0-32 off seven overs while he made 13 runs as Western's number five in the chase.
Muller and Brien are representing Western at the Country Colts Carnival, their campaign starting with a seven-wicket loss to ACT Southern Districts.
Western Zone was sent in to bat after ACT won the toss and made 9-163 off its 50 overs. Blake Weymouth top scored with 53, but Brien's aggressive 21 off 24 deliveries featuring a pair of sixes was also a highlight.
Muller made seven off six as he came in late in Western's innings.
In reply ACT took 36 overs to run down the total, but Muller managed to take one of the three wickets to fall before they claimed victory.
He send a delivery crashing into the stumps to finish with 1-45 off seven overs.
The Bathurst trio and their Western team-mates will be eager to open their account in the second round on Tuesday against Riverina.
