Flood is a member of the Fordham University Rams team which plays in the highest tier of NCAA women's basketball in the United States of America.
It's a big challenge for the former Goldminer and even with her representative experience, as a freshman she is used off the bench for the Rams.
But on January 1 not only did Ford get a handy amount of game time - she spent 16 minutes on court - she also contributed to one of the best defensive efforts in the Rams' history.
The Rams beat the George Marson Patriots 62-32 on New Year's Day, conceding the second fewest points in a game since their inaugural season in 1977.
Flood scored three points, but more importantly she pulled down six rebounds in her time of court in an effort which rated amongst her best yet for the Rams.
The Bathurst guard and her team-mates backed up that performance to beat George Washington 53-47 on January 3 to make it three wins in succession this season.
Flood got five minutes of game time in that much tighter game, her statistics including a pair of defensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, it has been a mixed start to 2021 for fellow Bathurst talent Will Cranston-Lown who is the starting guard for the Regis University Rangers.
The Rangers lost their first two games of 2021 even though Cranston-Lown set a career milestone in one of them as he builds on an impressive start to his sophomore season.
Cranston-Lown scored 17 points, including four three-point baskets from as many attempts, as Rangers began 2021 with an 84-74 loss to Black Hills State University on Sunday.
Then on Monday Cranston-Lown pulled off a Rangers career high as he potted 22 points, but it was not enough to stop Regis from falling to Chadron State College 74-59. His statistics also included three steals and a pair of defensive rebounds.
