RE: $160m to increase Bathurst Jail's capacity by 220 more unfortunate inmates.
"Another milestone" in the NSW Government's $3.8b prison extension program, says our local member Paul Toole.
How many mental health services and housing needs for our homeless people could that $3.8b have provided?
OTHER RECENT LETTERS:
People who have secure jobs and adequate housing tend not to do crime.
Nowhere in Mr Toole's latest bulletin does he indicate additional spending on the two issues driving crime.
Why not attack the causes of crime more effectively, not its consequences?
To laud increasing local prison capacity as a "milestone" is abhorrent and needs to be "corrected".
