Ajak, will release 'Flying Too Close to the Sun' on Friday, February 12, following the successful release of debut single 'Perfect to Me' last July.
Recorded with fellow local musician Kris Schubert at his home studio, The Boatshed, Ajak said the song reflects the feeling of getting your hopes up too soon when pursuing a romantic interest.
"The song has a slower tempo and there's a real bluesy feeling to it," he said.
"Kris and I wrote it in one afternoon, and it's certainly a change somewhat from 'Perfect to Me', which has a happier, more upbeat tone."
Ajak said the response to 'Perfect to Me' has been predominantly positive, and has encouraged him to continue incorporating originals into his sets.
"I've done a number of weddings over the last few months and the bride and groom have regularly requested the song," he said.
"For a long time, I stuck to performing covers as I felt these original ideas of mine weren't quite ready for an audience but with all the positive feedback I've received for 'Perfect to Me' [and the listens on Spotify], it's given me the confidence to write more."
Ajak is also continuing to work on music with 'The Power of Equality', which he fronts with Orange musicians James Buchanan, Quinn Luxford and Jacob Pickett.
"We're currently working on a new original called 'All Mine', which I'd describe as a fun, summer jam, but by the time it's finished, it'll probably be autumn or winter," he said.
"I'm hoping to spend much of this year writing and releasing more singles, with the end goal to eventually get an album out."
"Through music, I want to reach out to as many people as possible, there's such a tight community in the Central West for musicians and I want to help add to it."
'Flying Too Close to the Sun' will be released on all streaming platforms: Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube.
