The 15-year-old Scots All Saints College student pulled on the blue and gold for the first time in the round 10 match against City Colts, finishing with figures of 4-13 off 5.5 overs in his side much-needed six wicket win.
Newham only found out about his first grade callup the very morning of the match, when he was getting ready to play lower grade cricket.
"I woke up, started getting ready for cricket and relaxed for a bit. I was then just talking to some friends and mum came in and said the president of the club had asked if I wanted to play," he explained.

"It was pretty short notice but it was pretty exciting to know I was playing."
Newham admitted he had a few pre-game nerves, but they went away pretty quickly after he got his first wicket.
"I was pretty nervous going up until I was bowling," he said.
"I was told to warm up and when I got my first one I was so excited and I didn't expect to get another three. I was not expecting that at all."
Newham is expected to feature for Centennials again this Saturday and the opposition doesn't get any harder then the table-topping, undefeated St Pat's Old Boys.
"It's going to be a challenge for sure," he admitted.
But the challenge will be made somewhat enjoyable by the fact he'll be facing some familiar faces in fellow Scots All Saints College students Angus Parsons and Tom Siede, as well as now-graduated students Hugh Parsons and Ben Cant.
When asked about which one he'd like to bowl out?
"I'd be happy with any," he laughed.
The match will be played over the course of two days, with Saturday's match to get underway from 1pm at George Park 1.
In other matches, Rugby Union hosts cellar-dwellers Kinross at Morse Park 1 (starting at 1.30pm), while it's an all Bathurst affair when Bathurst City clashed with City Colts at the Sportsground (getting underway at 1.30pm).
There's also two Orange derbies, with CYMS playing Orange City at Riawena Oval and Cavaliers clashing with Centrals at Wade Park, with both games getting underway at 1pm.
