Mitchell will be looking to reach the Australian National Junior Championships for the third time when he plays his under 19s State Challenge matches this Tuesday and Wednesday.
Considering he's at the top of the 19s age group this season, and coming into the challenge off his NSW Premier Cricket first grade debut, Mitchell is primed to fight for a place at the national tournament once more.
He's managed to take the next step to the nationals on his previous two attempts as a top-age player.
Mitchell wants to make that three.
"I've been in the State Challenges since I was probably 13. Following this they'll pick the team to go to Under 19s Nationals at Brisbane," he said.
"I was in the 15s and 17s teams for the nationals so hopefully I can make the 19s. It would be a really great experience. I always enjoy the State Challenge."
And if Mitchell continues his form he's shown with Sydney University he'll be a great chance of making that happen.
He made his first grade debut last month in a clash against Penrith, taking 2-25 in the win.
Mitchell's had limited time with bat and ball in his three games since then but he did finish with an unbeaten 26 in the following game against Blacktown Mounties.

His season highlight remains his unbeaten, hard-hitting 130 in the Poidevin-Gray Shield against Bankstown in November.
The former St Pat's Old Boys all-rounder can't complain with the trajectory of his season to date.
"I'm really happy with the way I'm playing at the moment, and I'm happy with the way I'm hitting the ball so hopefully I can bring that to the park on Tuesday and Wednesday and get myself named in the NSW Country side," he said.
"You only get the two digs out there so hopefully one of them, or both, can go my way.
"I've played a lot with these guys since they've all continued on with it since 13s and 14s so it's always good to go there once a year to catch back up with those guys and - if you're lucky enough - go away with some of them for another two weeks.
"It's been a great season. The last few weeks have definitely been exciting but I like to try and keep relaxed about it all. This time last year I never thought I'd be doing what I'm doing now."
