It's the second time in three years a car has ploughed through the fence, narrowly missing an electrical box, raising concerns for the safety of people walking along the footpath.
Administrator for the Bathurst Showground Land Manager, Andrew Fletcher, said it was raining at the time of the crash and the driver just drove off.
Witnesses reported the incident to police who are investigating it, but Mr Fletcher holds concerns about pedestrian safety, given its the second time it has happened.
He said had it happened when the showground was in use, the results could have been catastrophic.
The crash happened just days after the fun fair, Mr Fletcher said there were vans parked in the vicinity but thankfully the strength of the fence, which was replaced just three weeks ago, stopped the car going through it.
MAKING NEWS:
Scott McLennan, manager of the Bathurst Showground Land Manager, said basically the fence did what it was suppose to; protect everyone inside the showground.
But he said a lot of people walk along the footpath every day, and they were concerned for their safety.
Mr Fletcher agreed.
"The footpath is a thoroughfare into town from Kelso, and you have people using it while they are exercising. This is the second time its happened in three years in about the same spot."
Mr Fletcher said they were in the process of making a submission to the RMS to have a barrier installed at the beginning of Kendall Avenue, stretching about 50 metres, to protect those walking there.
"If it had been the fun fair or the show or any other event, what would have happened?"
Mr Fletcher also encouraged anyone who witnessed the crash to contact police, adding he was disappointed the driver just left the scene.
"We know accidents happen, but it's wrong to just drive off," he said.
