Children attending Balance Early Education's 2020 Preschool Program took part in what was called the Help Me Grow project to help them prepare for kindergarten.
As part of the program, created by the educators at Balance, the children got together in small groups with peers who would be attending the same school as them in 2021.

"The children then chose flowers to plant and grow to take to their new school to connect them to their time at Balance," Balance Early Education owner Darlene Wadham said.
"This COVID-safe way to help children with their transition proved very successful.
"Children spent three months watering and caring for their new seeds and watched as they started to sprout."
Balance centre manager Molly Gallop said this time of year "is equally exciting and unnerving for children" as they prepare for a new chapter of their lives.
"We are so pleased to see how the children interacted with this project and how it played a role in shaping their sense of belonging and confidence with this journey," she said.
"We know it has been one project that has helped the children prepare for their next learning journey into big school."
The 2020 graduates from the Balance Early Education Preschool Program proudly presented pots to their new schools as part of their first week in kindy.
Violet Bannister-Tyrell shared her potted plant with Bathurst West Public School's principal Darren Denmead.
Mr Denmead thanked the Balance team for "the lovely idea of providing plants to assist with transition".
"I think this is legendary," he said.
"Violet and her family were so excited to show me the plant and to gift it to our school, and even more excited to see it take pride of place in her new classroom."
The potted plants have a message to the teachers and parents at the children's new school.
"Children are like growing flowers," the pots say. "Be sure to shower them with love, laughter and learning."
