Prior to Saturday's Bathurst Nines tournament at Jack Arrow Oval, St Pat's had not played a game since the Western League Tag Challenge in March last year.
They made the decider of that tournament where they went down 8-4 to West Belconnen, Watterson scoring the Saints' only try.
Though there have been some personnel changes at St Pat's since then - Oberon sisters Shannon and Danielle Fisher amongst the new faces - the core remains the same.
It was that experienced core who helped the Saints begin their Bathurst Nines campaign with a 20-0 win over Bathurst Panthers, with Watterson bagging a double.
Bronte Emanuel scored the first try after 90 seconds and when Watterson broke away down the right wing five minutes in, the Saints pushed out to an 8-0 lead.
A Meredith Jones special two minutes later - she shimmied through Panthers' defence on the halfway line and ran away to score between the sticks - followed by a Darcie Morrison conversion, made it 14-0 at the break.
Morrison came close to picking up a try in the opening stages of the second half when she grubbered close to the line then dived on the ball, but she was ruled to have been tagged in the process.
But moments later when Emily Rhynehart spotted an overlap on the right and kicked to exploit the space, Watterson caught the ball and went over for her second. That made it 20-0.
While the Saints were certainly class, their young Panthers rivals did not lack effort.
Experienced halfback Jess Hotham steered the side around well, Jacinta Windsor produced some nice defensive tags and Madison Marmion - who starred for the under 18 Panorama Platypi last season - showed good spark in attack.
