I WOULD have no difficulties in the establishment of a go-kart track in Bathurst, but I strongly oppose the construction of such a track on its current proposed site at Mount Panorama.

It seems to me that the councillors supporting the current proposed location are too stubborn to consider any other site, and too uncaring to consider the impact it will have on sections of our community.
Not only will the construction be detrimental to the heritage and culture of our indigenous members, but it will restrict the use of that section of the park to the go-kart club members, thus excluding the rest of the Bathurst community.
It also appears that the haste to start work on the site may be intended to create a situation where a new council elected in September will be unable to reverse this decision.
Council should defer starting work on this project and let the people have their say at the next election.
My discussions with members of several community organisations that I am a member of indicate that there is growing opposition to this project.
I will certainly remember the councillors supporting this proposal at the next election.
