His team not only claimed the Mountains And Plains champion club honours at Lithgow, but did so with a winning margin unlike any seen before in recent times.
The 2,000 point margin between Bathurst and the other clubs came with some big exclamation points, including eight age champion awards, a stack of personal best times and several new regional records.
Stapley said the weekend was a shining moment for the club and will be a great meeting to look back on in the future.
"I think it's the biggest margin any club has won at MPS. We went back a few years and couldn't find any margin like that. Yes, we took a big team of 55 swimmers there, but at the end of the day they've still got to back that up with their performances in the water," he said.
"Our guys certainly had to bring it in the pool with some results and they didn't disappoint. That showed in the amount of age champions we had at the end of the day."
Bathurst's list of age champions was made up of Lyndall Peychers (8s girls), Tom Hamer (9s boys), Nate Brennan (10s boys), Jack Mulligan (12s boys), Tyler Johnson (15s boys), Ben Roffe (19s boys), Jasmine Wilkins (25 and over girls) and Bryce Bollinger (multi class boys).
"It goes to show that we didn't just win on our participation numbers alone. To have eight age champions was massive for the club and it's great to have a number of those kids off to State Country Championships this weekend in great form," Stapley said.
"The most impressive thing might have been the number of PBs we found. We have swimmers looking for qualifying times to go to the NSW State Age Championships next month and our senior guys are looking for NSW State Open times as well.
"We ended up finding a PB roughly every one in two races ... and claimed four records across the weekend."
Those record swims went to Jack Mulligan (boys 12s 50 metre backstroke, 34.54), Brooklyn Whalan (girls 10s 100m butterfly, 1:24.44), Tyler Johnson (boys 15s 100 backstroke, 1:05.99) and Sienna Whalan (girls 14s 50m breaststroke, 37.14).
Several Bathurst swimmers also found personal bests in every event they entered: Hadlie Henson (nine from nine), Madelene Groves (seven), Emily Saint (six) and Ben Roffe (four).
Many club members will now set their sights on the Country Championships this weekend.
Stapley said there should be more memorable performances still to come.
"We're off the NSW Country and lots of our swimmers are lining up their form with where we are in our training bloc, so I think everyone who put in good performances on the weekend have still got a lot more to give," Stapley said.
"It's looking really exciting for us with around 20 of our swimmers off to the championships."
