Can't say I know of a coffee plantation near Bathurst. But I really need that coffee each morning! And I don't think I'm alone.

Come to think of it, most of our major items of expenditure like cars, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, etc are mostly imported.
Perhaps one should only purchase electric cars that have been manufactured within 100km of Bathurst?

Do you know that Australians import most of our steel from overseas, the ore originally mined in Australia, and the steel making process energised by coking coal from Australia.
That's a lot of toing and froing and steel and carbon miles.
Are we planning to shut down coking coal mining?
Where one sources one's vegies is beginning to pale into insignificance.
What about those who are less well-off who cannot afford "organic" food and $10 for a sourdough loaf every day? How are they going to feed the family?
Well, there is always McDonald's and Hungry Jack's - they sell affordable food and, what's more, it's now packaged with cardboard.
One has to admit these ethical decisions are sometimes very perplexing.

It came into the English dictionaries around 2017 and has been used to describe one who is fervent about racial and social justice and, increasingly, care for the environment. Maybe I am "woke" after all.
