Mr Patel had a broad smile on his face on Monday morning as hundreds of shoppers streamed into the store on its first day of trading, saying the hard work over the past month or so had all been worth it.
The Silly Solly's chain started in Rockhampton, Queensland and spread right across the state before managing director Solly Stanton turned his attentions further afield.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Silly Solly's opened its first Sydney outlet, in Prospect, almost two weeks ago and the Bathurst store that was officially opened by mayor Bobby Bourke on Monday morning is the first in regional NSW.
The business is a family affair for Mr Patel who is running the store with his cousin Samir and their respective wives Vaishali and Kalpana.
And even more family members had been roped in to help as they fitted out the store and stocked the shelves before opening day.
"We started putting everything together about February 22 and have been pretty much working non-stop for 12 to 14 hours a day since then," Mr Patel said.
"We had all our families helping us to set up the store and we're lucky to have a very good staff of local people as well.
"Everybody has been working very hard."
Mr Patel said the Silly Solly's promise of more than 10,000 items in-store with nothing over $5 would set his store apart from other discount shops in Bathurst.
"I've heard from a few customers today that they're very excited to see our range," Mr Patel said.
