The Vinnies NSW Flood Appeal aims to raise much-needed funds to enable our good works in communities to continue as we move into the recovery phase of the disaster.

"As the weather improves and flood waters begin to recede, people returning to damaged homes and property will need our support," St Vincent de Paul Society NSW CEO, Jack de Groot, said.

"Some people have lost everything and will need ongoing accommodation.

"Those who are returning to flood-affected homes will need food, clothes, and other basic necessities to get them through the clean-up and beyond," he said.

"Natural disasters leave a lingering effect and a change in the weather does not erase the damage done.

"I'm encouraging people to dig deep and give what they can by making a donation to the Vinnies NSW Flood appeal," Mr de Groot said.

"St Vincent de Paul members are out there, right across NSW - providing food, clothing, shelter and all the basic needs to people devasted by these floods," he said.

Graham Clayton, who is president of the St Therese Conference in Bathurst, an arm of St Vincent de Paul supporting those in need, said Bathurst was an incredibly generous community and he hoped people would step up and help out.

"Last year the Bathurst community helped us raise $13,000 for people suffering from homelessness and domestic violence, people here are always very good to us," he said.
