Rt Rev Wilson passed away on March 20 at the age of 78 after a long struggle with cardiac illness.

He was the bishop of the diocese from 1989 to 2000, with Richard Hurford taking over from him in 2001.
Following his ordination in December 1965, Rt Rev Wilson began a long ministry of pastoral care and theological leadership in the Anglican church including chaplain to the University of NSW, rector of St George's Paddington, director of St Mark's National Theological Centre in Canberra, assistant Bishop Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn before his role at Bathurst.
He retired from ministry in March, 2000.
