Hewitt has been a long time supporter of the Bathurst Harness Racing Club's Gold Crown Carnival and as such, always has a handy team of two-year-olds at this time of year.
While the man who won the 2018 Gold Crown Final for two-year-old colts and geldings aboard College Chapel was unable to snare one of the coveted Group 1 trophies this year, on Wednesday he will chase a consolation.
Four of his fillies who missed out on the $100,000 Gold Tiara Final after only managing fifth placings in their heats will contest the 1,730 metres silver consolation. It means he has recruited sons Doug and Jason plus daughter Gemma to drive.
Bernie Hewitt looks to have the best chance of the four, a Somebeachsomewhere x Courageous Annie filly called Head Noise who opened as a $7 prospect.
She finished 10m off the pace in her heat behind eventual Gold Tiara runner-up Captains Queen, having travelled one out and two back then working three and four wide through the final bend. Head Noise has drawn barrier four for Wednesday.
Doug will go from barrier one with Indy Jewel, Jason barrier three aboard Art Thou Lexy while Gemma will steer Frozen Jewel from the wide seven gate.
