Creature Speak owner Mardi Williams uses the BodyTalk health care system to address stress, pain and behaviors in animals, namely dogs, cats and horses.
"The BodyTalk system takes the entire health history of an animal under consideration to help them process emotions," Ms Williams said.
"Animals have their own unique process for expressing emotions, and the aim of this service is to help pets and their owners feel more attuned to each other's emotions."
The BodyTalk system was originally developed for humans as a holistic therapy based on the belief living things are capable of healing themselves more effectively than any modern technology.
Ms Williams, a certified BodyTalk practitioner, said the therapy aims to address a host of key behavioral and emotional problems with animals.
"Domestic animals in particular are very affected by their environment, whether it be responses to human stress, separation anxiety or traumatic experiences," she said.
"During each session, I closely observe how the pet behaves [body language, behaviour etc] to help them better address concerns with their owners."
Ms Williams said sessions with animals can sometimes lead to BodyTalk sessions with their owners.
"The owners can often be part of the problem as animals take on human stress factors," she said.
"In the BodyTalk world, we do say veterinary care is the number one source for animal medical attention but sometimes, the vets will say an animal requires further behavioural therapy, especially in the case of rescue pets with an unknown history."
"This system is a way for their body language to be heard and understood in order to help owners better understand the behaviour of their pets."
Ms Williams has a diverse background in animal care and also provides a mobile pet caretaking service for people who need their pets looked after while away.
