On Thursday night at Orange's Pride Park the St Pat's second rower got his hands on a Western under 21s premiership medal and was awarded man of the match honours as well.
Considering the glut of talent not only within the Saints squad, but in the Dubbo CYMS unit the blue and whites beat 20-16, it was a big honour.
Barlow made plenty of hard yards for the Saints throughout the contest and also inspired his team-mates with his aggression in defence, driving CYMS players back in solid tackles.
But rather that talk about his individual performance, Barlow praised the way his fellow Saints lifted in the final quarter of the contest to clinch the maiden Western 21s crown.
"I was real nervous, something we lacked on our whole tournament was our last 10 to 15 minutes, but we've been knuckling down at training and it paid off tonight," he said.
"It was an awesome feeling to win, the boys have ripped in all season. We spoke about how it's the first ever comp and we wanted to be the first ones to win it.
"It was tough. City boys say that bush footy is not real physical, but that just showed tonight how physical it can be."
