Funding of $15,000 from the NSW Government has allowed a new six metre by 15 metre shed to be constructed on a concrete slab to store equipment and provide shelter for those wanting to tend their vegetables or flower gardens.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the new shed was making a difference.
"It's keeping tools out of the weather and is proving to be ideal for storing equipment as well as somewhere for those people tending the gardens to get out of the hot sun or rain," he said.
"People driving along Hereford Street will notice the new shed, which is just before the Hope Church building on the Kelso side of town."
IN NEWS AROUND BATHURST:
Mr Toole said the community garden was established on a five-acre site back in 2016.
"Produce from the garden is used in the kitchen at Hope Bathurst, while the volunteers also get to take some home with them," he said.
"A number of community organisations also have their own plots at the community garden, so it's really an initiative that benefits many local residents."
Mr Toole said the team from Agile Arbor have been supporters of the community garden, supplying mulch and helping slash the grounds.
